Preparations for K's First Communion in 2 weeks!

I find it hard to believe the little baby who never slept until we walked for ages holding her is now going to have her First Communion soon. Also cannot believe how a child of 8 cannot sleep before 10pm or wolf down a gigantic plate of food in 5 minutes without being sick, but thats another story!
Need to finalise preparations, we have family coming from abroad for her communion and almost 50 people over for lunch!
Going to make my standard fruit Christmas cake, with icing and put a cross on it from fondant with some writing.
Need to make a proper lunch with sorpotel/vindaloo, roast beef etc but husband thinks we should get a caterer. I think home made food is always nice and have yet to find a Goan caterer in Birmingham!
Dessert is a choice between blueberry white choc torte or mango mousse.
My inlaws are bringing some decorations and slices of the cake are going to go in small silver boxes with MIL's tiny satin flowers on the top. The cake boxes are going to be giveaways.
Hopefully the weather will be lovely and dry and the children can go out in the garden for the games. The thing with a varied age group is keeping them occupied. Have to delegate that to someone.

We have more or less settled in the new house now, other than the usual leftover bits. Now taking a break from all the doing up stuff bit and getting on with the usual stuff. Will get the boxes of books etc moved and then take some after pictures to post.

Back online after 18 days! From Sky to Virgin

Never did I imagine how different life would be without any internet other than on my phone.
For 18 days.
But
We
Have
Moved!!!!
Delighted with the move which was many years in the happening, have settled on a not so perfect house but, given the current market and our reluctance to move away from the area, is the best available.
So much of work was done before we moved, and the past two weeks, so much more work has been done.
But, this post is about finally having our internet back, with the delay by Virgin in installing the phone/tv/broadband. We have made the big jump and switched from Sky and BT after many years. All because the husband very keen on fibre optic broadband. Wish I could say its been worth the two week wait but its more or less the same really, other than the much faster broadband, the reason for us shifting. The Virgin TiVo box is slightly better than the Sky box, a few more features like apps and games on the box, most of which are not free though. Miss the Indian channels like Star which were free with Sky. Youngest child very happy to have his Peppa Pig back on again.
I missed the internet the most, rather on my laptop. Took the children in the holidays to a soft play which had free wifi and sadly enjoyed it so much (fortunately took the ipad along). I dont like my tiny phone screen for checking emails or browsing.
Anyway, future posts of our before and after pictures of the house. Finally have my lovely range cooker but will leave a post to that or will go on forever.
